Lenawee County in Southeast Michigan has plenty to offer families looking to enjoy winter together. From outdoor adventures to indoor activities, there’s something for everyone. Here are seven winter activities to explore that will keep the whole family entertained.

1. Nite Lites Christmas Light Show at Michigan International Speedway
Nite Lites, located at Michigan International Speedway is the largest Christmas lights display in the state of Michigan. As you drive through the visually stunning displays, you'll be transported to a world filled with animated characters, holiday scenes, and breathtaking formations. The experience is over five miles long and even includes a synchronized light show set to your favorite holiday tunes on an AM station. The display is updated every year and features over a million light bulbs. Nite Lites is open November 22 through January 5. 

2. Snow Sledding at Gauci Golf Resort
Grab your sleds and head to Gauci Golf Resort in Onsted, Michigan for some classic winter fun! The course transforms into a sledding paradise, offering gentle slopes and open spaces perfect for kids and adults alike. Spend the day racing down snowy hills and warming up with hot chocolate afterward. Located in the heart of the Irish Hills, Gauci Golf Resort makes it easy to embrace winter's simple pleasures. 

3. Santa Express Southern Michigan Railroad
All aboard the Santa Express at the Southern Michigan Railroad! Take your family on a magical train ride through the winter countryside, complete with holiday decorations, festive music, and a special visit from Santa himself. Cozy up with hot cocoa and enjoy the sights, sounds, and joy of Christmas on the rails. We recommend booking your tickets early for this unforgettable holiday experience!

4. Ice Skating at Arrington Ice Arena
Lace up your skates and enjoy a day on the ice at Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Michigan! Perfect for skaters of all ages and skill levels, Arrington Ice Arena offers a fun and welcoming atmosphere for families and friends. With open skate times, rentals, and plenty of space to practice your moves, it's a great spot to enjoy one of winter’s best activities. 

5. Comstock Park Christmas Riverwalk 
Prepare to be captivated by the Comstock Christmas Riverwalk in Downtown Adrian. Along the picturesque River Raisin, you'll discover a stunning display of over 500 trees reflecting and shimmering on the water's surface. Each tree tells its own story with unique decorations and beautification, all sponsored by organizations, businesses, and residents in the city. In 2019, the Comstock Christmas Riverwalk even beat Hallmark’s world record for most lit Christmas trees!

6. Holiday Show at The Croswell Opera House
In existence since 1866, the historic Croswell Opera House is the oldest theater in Michigan and one of the oldest continuously operating theaters in the United States. It’s become a holiday tradition to watch favorite stars from recent Croswell productions and ring in the holidays with the songs of the season, plus some Broadway hits. Cozy up, treat yourself to the Croswell’s drinks and snacks, and take in a show at this historic theatre. 

7. Robinson Planetarium 
Discover the wonders of the universe with a free show at the Robinson Planetarium on the Adrian College Campus! Perfect for all ages, the planetarium offers immersive experiences that take you on a journey through space, exploring stars, planets, and galaxies.
