Summer Reading Club: May 28 – August 19
At the Delaware County District Library, readers of all ages are welcome to participate in the Summer Reading Club.
Pick up your reading log from your local library branch, from our summer “Check it Out” newsletter or download it on the library's website.
This year’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities! Read this summer and discover all the possibilities you can find in an ocean of books. Join us for stories and programs with a special focus on the marine world and the creatures, both real and mythical, who live there.
Whether you like books, magazines, comics, eBooks, audiobooks, or being read to by a family member or a friend, remember that it all counts toward your summer reading total!
No matter how you read, keep track of every 15 minutes. You can log it on your DCDL Summer Reading tracking sheet, or simply write it down on a piece of paper. It may be summer break, but reading 15 minutes a day will keep your reading skills sharp and make going back to school easier. Earn a prize after reading 6 and 12 hours.
Prizes may be picked up from May 28 to August 19, as supplies are available.
Children are a vital part of the Delaware County District Library's mission. Whether it's helping nearly 6,500 Delaware County children read and win prizes over the summer or 65,000 kids attend one of the 1,500 programs offered every year, the Library is here for you and your children.
Early literacy starts at birth! Did you know that the library has a storytime for babies through preschoolers? Visit the Library's website to see what activity might work best for you and your family. There is more to discover than what you may expect.
Your child may also benefit from some of the nontraditional items available for checkout through the library like LaunchPads, board games, role playing games, Chromebook bundles for students, or even eLearning Kits. Stop in to one of our locations in Powell, Orange Township, Delaware and Ostrander, or visit the Maker Annex for details.
